How to Repair a Bifold Door Top Pivot
The top pivot of a
bifold door roller replacement closet door can be loosened and scrape the floor. This can be corrected by loosening up the set screw on the top bracket.
The top pivot pin is a screw made of metal that is inserted into a cap made of plastic which has a rounded top and stays in the track above the front door. You'll also need a screwdriver, and possibly a pair pliers.
Remove the bottom pin

It could also be due to an uneven gap between the door and hinge side jamb. You can fix this by loosening up the top guide, sliding it to the side or removing the top pivot point.
The final issue that is common is when the upper track is not aligned properly. This can be fixed by loosening and moving the screw that holds the top of the track in or out as required. After you've adjusted the nuts and bolts holding the track in place, you should be able to slide it back into its track bracket and secure it using the screw.
To remove the bottom pin, grasp both panels together at the sides and lift them slightly off of the lower track and off their brackets. If the bracket with the lowest has locking levers, let them go and release them to let the pin go. If the pin doesn't come with a mounting bracket, you can put a flat-head screw between the bottom of pivot flange and the door to lift the pin away from the door. Once you have a firm hold on the pin, turn it left to right while pulling it out of the door. If you're unable to remove the pin you might have to take the track from the panel. If this is the case, then put it on a set of saw horses to make it easier to handle.
Remove the top pin
They are fantastic at saving space, but can be a pain when they begin to slide or scrape the floor or veer off the track. There are a few easy adjustments that can often get them back on track.
If the doors slide in a different way then loosen the screw on the top bracket pivot point and move it a bit. Close the door to see if it aligns well with the frame. If it does, tighten the screw.
Another common problem with internal bifold doors is that the bottoms of the doors scrape against the carpet. If this is the case, you can try raising the bottom of the door with the bottom pin adjustment. If the door is too high, you'll need to remove the doors and trim them using the aid of a saw.
The wood around pivot pins and anchors can crack over time. It is possible to use epoxy to fix the crack and stop it from becoming worse. Apply a small amount of the epoxy to the crack, and let it dry before using the door.

Then screw it into the correct position and tighten it.
